Frequently asked questions from our clients
Our proven solicitors always conclude a simple and short legal services agreement with all their clients (around 2 A4 pages), which summarises the hourly rate, any deposit and other terms. From new clients they usually require a deposit. They then typically invoice their work on a monthly basis.
Depending on your legal problem, we will arrange the services of a selected and proven law firm that offers full-service legal advice in the Czech Republic and in the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe. And that without the costs and usual complexities of a large law firm. What's more, in cooperation with specialised colleagues they can arrange legal assistance even in highly specialised areas of law.
Yes, of course. We use their services ourselves and have tried them out; from clients to whom we recommend the chosen firms we hear only positive feedback. After all, we work with solicitors who specialise in areas of law that primarily concern business. They are, moreover, able to provide advice with an international dimension, including for FinTechs, in the field of cryptocurrencies, AML/CFT, court and tax litigation, insolvency law and so on.

AREAS OF LAW IN WHICH WE ARE AT YOUR SERVICE
Although the legal order in the Czech Republic consists of all valid legal norms, it can theoretically be divided into larger units – the basic division being into public law (for example criminal, administrative, financial) and private law (for example civil, commercial, labour). Individual areas of this kind arise primarily according to the criterion of the subject of legal regulation (what they concern), that is, the legal norms of a given area regulate a certain defined type of social relations (e.g. insolvency, real estate, AML).
Below we provide details to give you a better idea of the areas most frequently enquired about by clients according to legal specialisation, in which they need advice or representation.
FINANCIAL LAW
This law is a separate area belonging to the field of public law. It is a body of financial-law norms governing the relations arising in the process of creating, distributing and using the so-called money supply. By thematic affinity it includes, for example, the law relating to public budgets and state funds, the regulation of taxes, fees, customs duties and other compulsory levies, the regulation of loans, currencies and money circulation, the regulation of foreign-exchange management and the regulation of the financial market.
The law firms and solicitors we work with are, among other things, specialists in financial law. They focus, for example, on advising financial and credit institutions and FinTech projects on the legal and tax aspects of regulating financial markets, investment services and investment structures. Another of their strong specialisations is legal and tax advice in the field of cryptocurrencies (crypto-assets).
They have also long dealt with the regulation of Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) and possible conflicts with and implications for the regulation of collective investment and the related tax questions. They also work expertly on AML/CFT compliance – in this area of law they even act as expert lecturers and regularly train obliged entities.

Labour law
This law is a so-called hybrid area of law, as it includes elements of both private and public law. The field of labour law is made up of a set of norms governing a total of 3 thematic areas, namely individual labour law, collective labour law and the regulation of employment. The individual parts of labour law have different subjects and affect different social relations. Among the basic concepts of this law are terms such as employee, employer, labour office (úřad práce), employment agency, trade unions, dependent work, collective dispute, strike and lockout, wage compensation and so on.
In this area we will recommend specialists who advise both employers and employees on employment matters. They have extensive experience in labour law, which they always apply while anticipating the strategy of the other party to the employment relationship. You can turn to them, for example, when dealing with the following situations or problems:
- Employment documentation
- Court and administrative proceedings
- Compliance, occupational health & safety (BOZP), GDPR, prohibition of discrimination
- Termination of employment
- Cooperation with self-employed individuals
- Concurrence of holding the office of managing director (jednatel) and an employment relationship
- Employment-law training
- Non-compete clause under the Labour Code (zákoník práce)
- Agency employment
- Residence law

Besides this, they can also arrange solicitor's escrow (advokátní úschova) (for the safe deposit of the purchase price and its settlement), official certification of signatures on contracts, entries of new buildings in the Land Register (katastr nemovitostí), etc.
Their other services in this area of law include, for example, advice on the sale and acquisition of real estate, advice on the construction of residential projects, including the subsequent commercialisation of residential units, advice for facility management (preparation and review of the lease contract, negotiations with tenants), advice on project financing, structuring and negotiating contracts with banks or other financing providers, representing clients in court and arbitration proceedings, etc.
