How does mail work with permanent residence?
At our permanent residence addresses it is not possible to receive mail. These are virtual addresses intended only for the administrative record on your ID card and for communication with the state administration, not for actual physical operation.
So if you expect to receive mail or parcels, you must choose another solution that ensures your correspondence is delivered to your actual address. The most common and most practical solution is setting up mail redirection with the Czech Post, which automatically forwards all mail from the permanent residence address to a delivery address of your choice. Another option is setting up a data box (datová schránka), to which state authorities and offices can deliver electronically – this method is modern, fast and environmentally friendly.
Both options allow you to have permanent residence at a virtual address while retaining full control over receiving important correspondence.
