How do you register your permanent residence?
You arrange the registration of permanent residence at the municipal authority with local jurisdiction for the address you have chosen. To do so, you need the property owner's consent to reporting the change of permanent residence and your ID card. At the authority you fill in a registration form and the official records the new address directly on your ID card. The whole process is a matter of a single visit, takes a matter of tens of minutes and is free of charge.
You must report a change of permanent residence within 30 days of the actual change. If you fail to do so, you may face a fine of up to CZK 2,000. If you use the permanent residence service, the address provider will supply you with the owner's consent after signing the agreement – then you simply go to the relevant authority and you are done.
