How do Postal Data Messages (PDZ) work and how do I activate them?
Postal Data Messages, PDZ for short, allow secure communication between two entities that are not an authority – that is, between companies, the self-employed or even ordinary citizens. In 2026 they are gradually becoming the standard for sending invoices, reminders or contract terminations too.
HOW TO ACTIVATE THE RECEIPT OF PDZ?
For another entrepreneur or company to be able to send you a message, you must have this function enabled.
- Log in to your data box via the portal mojedatovaschranka.cz.
- Go to the Settings → Box information section.
- Find Receipt of Postal Data Messages and tick "Allow". Note that companies often have the function activated automatically; for the self-employed and citizens this manual step is usually required.
COMMERCIAL USE OF PDZ AND PRICING
Sending a PDZ is a paid service. Unlike an ordinary letter, however, you do not have to go to the post office and the price is significantly lower.
- Price per message: The price is currently around CZK 10–20, depending on whether you buy individual messages or use more favourable bundles/subscriptions.
- Payment method: You top up credit by payment card directly in your box interface or by bank transfer to your client account.
- Legal weight: A PDZ has the same legal force as a recorded-delivery letter into your own hands. You have a delivery receipt with the exact time of delivery and of reading available.

WHY USE PDZ IN BUSINESS?
The main advantage is indisputability. If you send a contract termination or a pre-action notice via PDZ, the other party cannot claim that the envelope was empty or that the letter did not arrive. The system guarantees the integrity of the content (the attachments) and the very fact of delivery to the recipient's sphere of influence.
