What should I do if I lose my login details or password for my data box?
If you cannot log in, stay calm. Your box and the messages in it are safe; you just temporarily do not have the "key" to them. The recovery procedure depends on which login method you use.
RESCUE VIA CITIZEN IDENTITY – THE FASTEST ROUTE
If you use Bank iD, an electronic ID card (eObčanka) or the eGovernment Mobile Key to log in, you actually do not need any further password for the data box. Simply log in on the portal via your digital identity and the system will let you into the box. This way you avoid any paperwork or fees.

ONLINE PASSWORD RECOVERY – SELF-SERVICE
If you know your username and, in the past, activated the option of password recovery by e-mail in the box settings, you are in luck:
- On the login page, click "Forgotten your password?".
- Enter your details and the system will send you a link to set a new password.
Tip: Activate this function in the settings preventively right now, while you still have access.
VISITING A CZECH POINT – THE CLASSIC ROUTE
If you have neither a digital identity nor an e-mail set up for recovery, you unfortunately have to go to a post office or an authority with the Czech POINT logo:
- Bring your ID document.
- Request the invalidation of the old details and the issue of new ones.
- The first recovery in a calendar year is usually free; for repeated requests you may pay an administrative fee. The new details will arrive to you by e-mail promptly.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BOX WHILE IT IS BLOCKED?
Even if you do not have the password, your box remains active. The authorities keep delivering to it and deemed delivery keeps running. So deal with a loss of access immediately, to avoid missing an important deadline during the "dark period".
