Which data box does each fine arrive in for the user?

The key to determining the box is the role in which you committed the offence. The authorities try to distinguish your "civil" and "business" activities, but it is not always 100% reliable.

• A speed-camera fine & a private car: If a camera photographs you in a car registered to you as a private individual, the fine should primarily arrive in your data box as an individual. If you do not have one set up, a paper letter will arrive at your address (in some cases, however, the authority may also use the OSVČ box, if the law allows it).
• A speed-camera fine & a company car: If the car is recorded in the vehicle register under your Company ID (IČO) (for a self-employed person) or a company (s.r.o.), the fine will arrive in your business data box.
• Official summonses: If you are dealing, for example, with building permission for a family house, it is a private matter. But if you are dealing with an inspection from the tax office, it concerns business and the message will end up in the "business" box.

This is where the most common stumbling block arises. If you have a box set up for the self-employed (OSVČ) by law, but do not have a voluntary box for an individual activated, the authorities often continue to communicate with you on private matters on paper. Paradoxically, it can then happen that you have an important tax message on your phone, but a speeding fine "haunts" you in the letterbox at your home address.

The safest route is to have both boxes set up, that is, both the business and the private one, and to have both linked under a single Citizen Identity (Identita občana). This ensures that no summons escapes you – whether it concerns your company's taxes or forgotten parking in the city centre.
