How do I set up data box notifications so that I miss nothing?
The data box system will not alert you to a new message on its own unless you tell it how through the notification settings – specifically, you have a choice of two main methods.
GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR SETTING UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE PORTAL
- Log in to your data box on the portal mojedatovaschranka.cz.
- In the top right menu, click the cog wheel ~ Settings.
- Then select the Notifications item in the left-hand panel.
- Choose the type (E-mail/SMS) and confirm with the Save button.
E-MAIL ALERTS – RECOMMENDED
This service is entirely free and perfectly sufficient for most entrepreneurs. As soon as a message arrives in the box, the system sends you an e-mail.
- Advantage: It is free and you will also find the message in your e-mail inbox (on both mobile and PC).
- Setup: After logging in to the box, go to Settings → Notifications → E-mail notification settings and enter your address there.
| ✅ Practical tip: In the e-mail notification settings we recommend also enabling the sending of information about the sender and subject. You will then immediately see whether "the tax office" or "the land registry" is writing to you, and can prioritise your login accordingly. |
SMS NOTIFICATIONS – A PAID SERVICE
If you are not often on e-mail, you can activate the sending of SMS messages. In 2026 this service costs roughly CZK 3 per SMS and requires topping up credit in the so-called Client Account.
- Advantage: SMS notifications give the user certainty of delivery, even without the internet.
- Setup: In the Notifications section choose SMS notifications and enter your telephone number.
